If you were asked to define rock n' roll, you would likely envision the atmosphere and sound of an album like this. This is quintessential rock. It's a kick-ass guitar, empowered vocals, and a pounding rhythm section that disciplines and pushes the groove. That's not to say this album is a rock tour de force. Bad Company's debut is a rock album that beautifully expresses melody through the rock vernacular. Every song is a uniquely formed expression imbued with that unforgettable rock passion. It's melody and harmony for the bad boy and the rebel. While no song redefines the musical landscape, this album is a collection of nearly all instant classics that just pulse with the bravado and lyricism of some of rocks finest offerings. If you want to rock, give this album a spin.Personal favorites: the one-two-three punch of the openers, the titular track, and the calming finisher "Seagull"

A great debut album! This is straight ahead blues based rock with no frills. The formula that they established here is maintained through the rest of their albums.

Free The Hoople [sic] were an instant success with their brand of '70s album oriented blues rock and the approval of Led Zeppelin's newly formed record label - indeed, Bad Company turned out to be the only other sustained success throughout Swan Song's existence. Perennial classic rock staple 'Can't Get Enough' and the menacing modern-day-outlaw-themed title track are the clear standouts, but the rest of the album is also notably more consistently listenable than any other subsequent BC LP would prove to be.
Gold as Heart
I think of Bad Company as Led Zep without the flash & innovations. This debut lp has 6 classic songs & 2 filler cuts.
