Dubstep Allstars Vol. 1 kicks off the 11 part Tempa series by introducing listeners to the seminal sounds of dubstep. DJ Hatcha was the perfect billing for this release due to his integral role in pushing the development of the sound as well as apparently naming the genre itself; not to mention his overall prowess as one of dubstep's top DJs. This mix delivers a healthy dose of dubby bass lines and murky 2-step beats. The tracks here are some of the earliest representations of dubstep; more resembling dubby 2-step garage than what we call dubstep today. Hatcha masterfully melds these hypnotic tunes into an hour long head-nodding trip straight out of Croydon.
